Episode 40: Talk About Amplifying Black Voices
This is not a typical episode because this is not a typical week. Instead of the normal business talk, I want to draw attention to the importance of amplifying Black voices. I recorded this on June 2, a day that became known on social media as the “Blackout Day.” But I want to challenge you to do more than post a black box on your IG feed that says “muted and listening.” Your action is needed more than your silence. If all you’ve done is say “I’m out for the week,” reconsider. Allyship is active.
Don’t say this doesn’t have to do with your business. It does. It does because it has to do with your humanity. Take a few minutes to listen in, and then take action, starting with educating yourself on what it means to be an active anti-racist.
Key Takeaways on Amplifying Black Voices:
- Don’t be silent.
- To act brings about change.
