In recent years, this word has been co-opted by social media, but that’s not our context today.
Influence literally means “the capacity to have an effect on the character, development, or behavior of someone or something“, and if yesterday’s horrific act of domestic terrorism at the US Capitol illuminated anything, it’s that under the wrong circumstances, our society is easily influenced.
